Proposed Amendment to Switchblade Act Forces Customs to Back Off

The biggest threat to knife ownership of 2009 has failed. U.S. Customs and Border Protection made it known yesterday it will no longer push to classify assisted openers as illegal switchblades.

Congratulations to everyone who helped defeat this measure by the authoritarians at Customs. From all of us at BLADE, thank you for standing up for what's right: the ability for peaceful people to own the knife of their choice.

One of the reasons that they may have backed off, beside of the fact that it nearly created an uprising, is the fact that if they had proceeded, they might have lost ground with the old and antiquated 1950 knee jerk version. I don't think that they liked the congress amended version as well as they did the original version.
